This 30 Acre property was formerly a family home and farm, and was donated to Opacum by the Gaumond Family in 2002. It is adjacent to Opacum Wood and was preserved in the memory of Herve and Mary Jane Gaumond by their children: Joanne M. (Gaumond) Morin, Paul A. Gaumond, Michelle A. (Gaumond) Fournier and Robert Gaumond.
Each conservation project is different and there are many options available to landowners who are interested in protecting their land. This property, which has numerus conservation attributes, was protected using limited development. Five lots with frontage were sold which enabled the family to donate the majority of the property to Opacum Land Trust.
